Adrinade's Clue II

"Yang, energetic and assertive, embodies the light of heaven and spirit; Yin, passive and containing, embodies the darkness of the worm, the cave, and the earth." (49)

I really enjoyed how this quote was articulated. The description of yin and yang was a way I had not heard before and it gave me a deeper understanding of these T'ai Chi elements.

Ariadne's Clue

Interesting Quote:
Its symbolic value is derived from the meanings and emotions it evokes in us. (6-7)
Just loved this quote. Symbolism is always up to interpretation and emphasis on the emotion it "evokes in us" brings an entire new light to my understanding of symbolism.

Confusing Quote:
If the phylogenetic psyche provides the basic hardware, then culture produces much of the software; and symbol-formation, as in dreaming, is the product of their function (16)
Definitely confusing. I would need to know what a "phylogenetic psyche" is in order to understand this statement more clearly.

This description should be one paragraph long, should exhibit syntax variety (simple, compound, complex, compound-complex sentences), and should combine both literal and figurative details.

On the wall of my bedroom, a picture of the taj mahal gracefully hangs. Like a rainbow after a storm, this well known monument is multicolored with each color fading into the other. Resting on a bed of fuchsia paper roses, the Taj Mahal lifts into the atmosphere. In the background, blue hues illustrate a mid-morning sky, and small brush strokes paint light and airy cirrus clouds. Because this portrayal Taj Mahal is not an ordinary rendition, I decided it would be most fitting for my bedroom, however this canvas was very expensive, and I had to save money in order to purchase it. Once I bought the painting, I could only admire the beauty hanging on my wall.
